Stereoselective polymerization catalysis of olefins and conjugated dienes


Highly cis-1,4 polymerisation of isoprene and syndiospecific polymerization of styrene were conducted using a borohydrido half-sandwich scandium complex.

In situ addition of NHC ligand switches the selectivity of the polymerization from cis-1,4 to trans-1,4.

Yttrium and neodymium tris(silylamides) were demonstrated to lead to particularly active and stereoselective catalysts for the formation of cis-1,4-polyisoprene.

Ring Opening Polymerization (ROP) of cyclic esters

Divalent samarium and thulium borohydrido complexes were found to be efficient catalysts for the ring opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone affording dihydroxy-telechelic polycaprolactones.
