Research Areas

Synthesis, characterization and application of supported catalysts.

We develop supported organometallic catalysts through controlled grafting onto inorganic supports, with an emphasis on:

- the impact of the immobilization on selectivity, in catalytic processes applied to fine chemistry and polymerization.

- the use of state-of-the-art characterization methods to understand their structure at the molecular level, which chiefly implies combined use of high field solid-state NMR and DFT calculations.

Key-aspects:

1.Surface chemistry of rare-earth and alkaline-earth metals :

Supported amide, borohydride and benzyl derivatives applied to a wide range of catalytic reactions (fine chemical synthesis, polymerization of olefins, dienes and lactones)

3. Issues in surface organometallic chemistry: synthesis, characterization, understanding

Based on UCCS NMR team’s expertise in solid-state NMR (L. Delevoye), and on the high-field spectrometers available on the Lille 1 campus, we investigate issues in surface organometallic chemistry, leaning on combined spectroscopic and theoretical input to achieve better structure, reactivity and mechanism understanding of grafted organometallic systems. Strong connection with DFT calculations is a key feature (J.-F. Paul, UCCS, L. Maron and I. Del Rosal, INSA Toulouse). This involves support from the TGE RMN THC Fr3050.
