Présentation

Les travaux de recherche de l’équipe « Catalyse pour l’énergie » portent d’une part, sur l’élaboration de carburants propres par le traitement des coupes pétrolières et par la conversion du syngas, et d’autre part sur la synthèse de produits à haute valeur ajoutée (cire, oléfines, méthanethiol…..), l’élaboration des solides innovants et les procédés semiindustriels.

 

L’équipe est composée de 2 chercheurs du CNRS (1 DR, 1 CR recruté en 2012) et 8 enseignants chercheurs (3 Pr, 5 MdC, dont 1 MdC recrutée en 2012). Les locaux et les équipements de l’équipe se trouvent dans le bâtiment C3, à l’Ecole Centrale de Lille, ainsi que dans le nouveau Hall Pilote mis en exploitation en novembre 2012. Le Hall Pilote Catalyse est une plateforme de réacteurs catalytiques unique dans le milieu universitaire en France. Les réacteurs du Hall Pilote fonctionnent dans les conditions opératoires proches d’un réacteur industriel (haute pression, haute température, gaz explosifs et toxiques) et sont hébergés dans un environnement sécurisé. L’utilisation de cette plateforme va donc nous permettre d’accélérer la découverte et le transfert des technologies catalytiques du niveau universitaire au niveau d’exploitation industrielle. Nous disposons également de lits fluidisés et granulateurs, qui nous permettent l’étude de l’attrition et l’enrobage des solides en conditions industrielles (haute pression et haute température) ainsi qu’une plateforme complète de

caractérisation de solides.

La spécificité de notre approche est de couvrir l’intégralité de la chaine technologique du traitement et de la synthèse de carburants propres. Nos travaux nous permettent ainsi de couvrir les domaines de recherches portant sur :

 

- l'élucidation des phases et des sites actifs par des caractérisations physico-chimiques approfondies parmi lesquelles des techniques synchrotron in-situ et operando ;

- la réalisation de tests catalytiques pilotes dans les conditions réalistes (haute pression, température) et avec des charges réelles ;

- la modélisation cinétique de réactions catalytiques complexes (Fischer-Tropsch, hydrodésulfuration) ;

- la mise en oeuvre de nouveaux réacteurs catalytiques, l’intensification de procédés et la mise en forme des catalyseurs.

Faits marquants

- Afin de mettre au point des catalyseurs actifs et stables, notre équipe s’est spécialisée dans la compréhension des phénomènes de désactivation des catalyseurs Fischer-Tropsch. Elle a, à son actif, la première observation du frittage des catalyseurs par des techniques operando lors de la réaction (en collaboration avec Total) mais aussi le premier modèle mécanistique de la désactivation des catalyseurs Fischer-Tropsch. Ces travaux ont été réalisés dans le cadre des thèses de H. Karaca et M. Sadeqzadeh et ont fait l’objet de 5 publications dans des revues internationales : Catal Today, 2013, 215, 52, Ind & Eng. Chem. Res., 2012, 51, 11955, Catal. Today 2011, 164, 62, J. Catal. 2011, 277, 14, Chem. Commun., 2010, 46, 788.

- L’équipe a développé des nouvelles techniques de préparation de catalyseurs actifs pour la réaction Fischer-Tropsch par l’ajout de produits organiques (en collaboration avec l’équipe CASU, E. Monflier, IFPEN et  LRS, UMR 7196 CNRS). Ce travail a donné lieu à 3 publications et 1 brevet : Chem. Commun. 2011, 47, 10767, Catal. Today 2011, 171, 180, Catal. - L’équipe est largement reconnue pour ses travaux sur la préparation de catalyseurs d’hydrotraitement de type sulfures à partir d’hétéropolyanions en collaboration avec l’IFP Energies Nouvelles. Cette reconnaissance s’est concrétisée en 2013 par l’écriture du chapitre « Alumina-supported Oxide Precursors Prepared from Heteropolyanions » du livre Catalysis by Transition Metal Sulphides (Ed Technip).

 

- Les travaux portant sur des catalyseurs d’hydrodésulfuration à base de cobalt et de molybdène ont été étendus avec succès aux catalyseurs d’hydrocraquage à base de nickel et de tungstène. Ces derniers travaux ont été effectués lors de la thèse de Karima Ben Tayeb et ont fait l’objet d’un brevet français en 2009 (n° PCT/FR2009000941), étendu à l’Europe (EP2315721A1) et aux Etats-Unis en 2011 (US2011/0230.691) et de 4 publications : Am. Chem. Soc. Div. Fuel Chem., 2008, 53-2, 9 ; Comptes Rendus de Chimie, 2009, 12, 692 ; Catal. Today, (2010) 150, 207-212 ; Applied Catalysis B Env., 2012, 126, 56-63.

- Faisant suite aux travaux ayant mené au dépôt de brevet (N°08 03691) en 2010 sur l’utilisation de supports alumines mésostructurées “Procédé de Préparation d’une Alumine à Mésoporosité Contrôlée”, notre équipe a mis en évidence le potentiel et les performances de catalyseurs supportés sur alumines mésoporeuses en hydrodésulfuration de charge réelle (Thèse Andres Mino – 2012 - en collaboration avec l’Université de Poitiers (Dr Sébastien Royer) et l’IFPEN)). Depuis 2010, l’équipe a donc commencé à développer avec succès des compétences dans le domaine du « up-scaling » des supports alumines mésoporeuses et des catalyseurs correspondants (20 g de catalyseur préparé et mis en forme par test catalytique).

 

- Faisant suite aux travaux ayant mené au dépôt de brevet (N°08 03691) en 2010 sur l’utilisation de supports alumines mésostructurées “Procédé de Préparation d’une Alumine à Mésoporosité Contrôlée”, notre équipe a mis en évidence le potentiel et les performances de catalyseurs supportés sur alumines mésoporeuses en hydrodésulfuration de charge réelle (Thèse Andres Mino – 2012 - en collaboration avec l’Université de Poitiers (Dr Sébastien Royer) et l’IFPEN)). - Nos compétences en génie de procédés nous a permis d’accompagner GDF-Suez à travers des projets d’industrialisation de la filière bio-méthane 2G (projet Gaya http://www.projetgaya.com/, Fuel, 2013, 111, 845-854, Fuel, 2013, 107, 254-260, EGATEC 2013, 30-31 mai Paris, « prix meilleur poster »). De même elles ont permis de développer en collaboration avec S. Paul de l’équipe ValBio un nouveau procédé pour la déshydratation de glycérol en acroléine dans le réacteur à lit fluidisé comprenant deux zones (brevet FR 2966456-A1,  WO/2012/056166).
