  MOT DU RESPONSABLE D’ÉQUIPE       TEAM LEADER FOREWORD  
 

En accord avec la stratégie définie dans son projet d’Unité, l’UCCS a mis en place, en 2016, deux nouvelles entités : l’équipe de recherche MATCAT et la plateforme de recherche et de transfert technologique UPCAT. L’équipe de recherche MATCAT s’insère dans l’axe Catalyse Hétérogène via la mise en place d’actions transversales matériau-application avec les autres équipes de l’axe, VAALBIO, REMCAT, MODSPEC et CATEN. L’équipe MATCAT, constituée de 5 enseignants-chercheurs et de 7 chercheurs non-permanents, se consacre au développement de matériaux catalytiques non conventionnels robustes et durables en réaction, de leur synthèse à l’échelle du laboratoire jusqu’à leur mise en forme.
Parmi les pistes explorées :
L’utilisation de procédures de synthèse sans solvant conduisant à des oxydes mixtes à surface spécifique élevée.
L’utilisation de molécules biosourcées comme agents directeurs de structure pour des oxydes simples et mixtes poreux hiérarchisés.
La conception de formulations catalytiques efficaces à base de métaux non précieux (fer, cuivre, manganèse)
La mise en forme d’oxydes à porosité structurée.

In agreement with the scientific strategy of the  UCCS project, two new entities have been created in January 2016: the « Catalytic Materials - MATCAT » research team, and the « Up-scaling of Catalysts – UPCAT » transfer platform. Our research team is part of the heterogeneous catalysis axis of UCCS, through the development of materials to applications transversal projects along with the already existing VAALBIO, REMCAT, MODSPEC and CATEN research teams. MATCAT is composed of 5 permanent researchers and 7 young researchers/Ph.D. students, working on the development of non-conventional catalytic materials that exhibit robustness and durability in reaction, from the laboratory scale up to their shaping.
Among the current strategies developed:
The development of solvent-free synthesis routes to produce nanocrystalline mixed oxides with improved surface areas.
The use of bio-sourced molecules as structure-directing agents for the production of single and mixed oxides with hierarchical porosity.
The conception of precious metal-free catalytic formulations (iron, copper, manganese)
The shaping of catalytic formulations.
