Hybrid organic-inorganic materials for optoelectronics applications, reactive surfaces and interfaces, catalysis, self-assembly, and supramolecular chemistry. The aim is to establish structure-activity relationships in material solids by characterizing them at different length and timescales. Our research benefits from measuring and understanding atomic-level structures using solid-state NMR spectroscopy, X-ray scattering and computational modeling, and by correlating them with functional properties, to ameliorate material synthesis and processing. In particular, we develop in situ and ex situ NMR spectroscopy methods and apply them to characterize materials.
